Ceremony at the International Center in Bad Antogast

A portrait of Gandhi was revealed in Bad Antogast on September 26, 2007, on the occasion of the UN “Day of Non-Violence“. The “Day of Non-Violence” is an initiative of the UN, proclaimed for the first time this year to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2, 1869.

The event honoured the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi as one of the world’s greatest peacemakers.  Swami Agnivesh, winner of the “Alternative Nobel Prize” of 2004, E. Shri Ajit Kumar, India’s consul general at Frankfurt, Erika Mann, Member of the European Parliament, Kornelius Wieland-Gölz, pastor of the local Protestant church as well as Roland Rosenberger, representative of the town of Oppenau and H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar were among the guests of honour.

The unveiling of a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi brought the evening to a close.
